Elderberry - Generic Variety - Cutting - Bundle of 10

These are native elderberry (sambucus canandensis) grown in Iowa in my gardens which are managed organically. Each cutting has at least two sets of nodes for good rooting. Every cutting we sell is at least the quality we use here for new plantings (they're actually better, because we want you to have success!). All of these have been cut within the week we are selling them, stored at the proper temperature and bundled for sale a day or two prior to shipping. We only ship on Monday so they'll get to you before the weekend, so they arrive in the best condition. 

These can be started in water or a light soil mix. You can also push these cuttings into well-worked soil, and with adequate moisture should sprout from their stems and/or develop a root. Don't be discouraged if the tops die back over the winter and they come up from their roots! After the first year of growth, we like to cut our elderberries back every spring to about 4" from the ground. They really produce berries well if you cut them back every spring. 

These will thrive in well-drained soil in full sun. They will also tolerate poor soils and partial shade. They will produce best in rich, well-drained soil in full sun.
